The 2022 Presidential Election in Melite held between the 10th and 11th of July, resulted in a landslide win for the Christian Nationalist Party of Melite, with its candidate, the second President of Melite, Matthew Tonna and his running mate Andrew Brotherton receiving 76.5% of the total vote, carrying 6 states and the Autonomous City (Capital). The runners up were Xram Irak and his running mate Julian D. Cassar (Current Mayor of Fgura SAR), who got 3 votes, carrying all the votes of F. SAR and thus the region.

Campaign

The atmosphere of the election was relatively quiet with minimal campaigning. The only two propaganda pieces issued during election day were by the CNP, one saying "Don't forget who served you from the beginning till now!", at the opening of the polls, and another message, when the revelation of the results mid-way through the election saying, "Thank you for trusting us!"

Results

Three times the live results were revealed. Once four hours in the election (Figure 1), another time twelve hours after (Figure 2), and the final result (Figure 3).

Allegations of Fraud

A mix of total joke and non-serious allegations of voter fraud were made by a presidential candidate Xram Irak and a non-citizen (image below). These allegations varied from simple "There is voter fraud", to "Matthew Tonna rigged the election". These were almost immediately debunked with an Election Report signed by the Premier of Melite Jayden Dagsa, outgoing President of Melite Andrew Brotherton (now Vice-President), incumbent Mayor-President of Fgura, Julian D. Cassar (Running mate VP for Xram Irak) and Sports Minister - Electoral Commissioner Simeon Nikolov, interestingly also a presidential candidate for the Melitian People's Party.
